The issue:

Loving it to

Death

The Problem/Objection:

There will be changes to the iconic view that the bridge outside of Oriskany has provide for decades.

A solution:

Don’t change the bridge. (or don’t build the trail).

What’s happening.

From the project manager:

“The existing railing will remain, but will be modified to support a taller railing system on the outer sides/edges to eliminate large holes a trail user could fall through. The clear opening width of the bridge will remain unchanged.”

There can be many examples of how this trail will change the enviroment around it. This example is but one, but it will really be noticeable for all. What is hoped for is that if the trail is built, the change will be done in a thoughtful way. Hopefull enough people will mention this issue and VDOT will be aware of the fine intracacies.

It’s Ironic.

Every entity that is pushing for this proposed trail ends up using the view of the bridge for an example of how wonderful it will be. When they get here they will be shocked to find it transformed, only because of their “want” of a taril.  What was once a memorable part of the area, will be gone.
